Principal's Message

Dear Oneonta Families,

 

On behalf of the school staff and myself, I welcome you to the 2023-2024 school year at Oneonta Elementary School, home of the Orcas! I am honored to continue serving as the principal of a school community filled with enthusiasm about education, and a staff dedicated to the success of every student. We are so thrilled to have our students back on campus!

 

We are excitedly preparing to welcome all students back to school. At Oneonta, our staff continues to be committed to collaborate with all the members of our learning community to achieve our school vision and mission. We are committed to the vision that our students will be the leaders of today and tomorrow. Our goal is to promote students who are emotionally intelligent, collaborative, resilient, critical thinkers, and who are global and digital citizens. Oneonta is a school where kids feel happy, safe, and loved. We collaboratively teach our students academics and leadership with a smile...because education matters.

 

We are proud to begin the eight year of implementation of the “Leader in Me” program. Our goal is to have all students demonstrate leadership skills and habits in the classroom, throughout the school campus, and at home. Throughout the school year, your child will be learning about the following habits:

  5. Seek First to Understand, then to be Understood

  7. Sharpen the Saw

  8. Find Your Voice

 

Please join us in affirming your child’s efforts as they develop these habits. You are an important part of their academic, social, and emotional education. You can help your child discover the leader within them and prepare them for a great life of contribution and service.
